Budding Hopes.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Budding Hopes....

the disease has come
with black lace and covered
face, scarlet veil and bejeweled
face, black diamonds
and black pearls
with the sad songs of the night
and not so audible sighs,
most of the old aching suffering
men and women are taken
the babies are innocently giggling
as mothers try to put them to
sleep in their cradle and wake them
up with morning lullabies
as fathers still go to the fields
and work all day,
as the world shuts itself turning
cities into empty graveyards and
factories into abandoned concrete forests,
we who are left out by her stunning grace
put these lessons inside our hearts,
life had always been uncertain
unpredictably miserable and tested
with all fright and horror
life returns with its morning glories
anchored on a fence and facing the
sun again with its fresh blooms
of colors and scents and
budding hopes.
