Burnt Offerings Poem by stephen morris

Burnt Offerings

</>Fires bright, burning new beginings, hope for the future has changed,
what shall we do for those we care, our lives now shackled with chains
Smoke burnes blind our eyes are closed, we pray for all we are worth,
that god will see the folly in us, give deliverence and so forth.
Once was pure our hands felt true, feelings of our worth,
but heat sent out his messenger and the pheonix he has taught.
If this is so and teachings fair the bird of flame devoured,
all we held again will come, the future will be ours.
In time i guess a book unfolds the wisdom of our lord,
is there for all to read upon see clearly and behold.
To build anew from branch`s few we look around too true,
with hope in hand a hevenly band, we build we build anew.
If all goes well and flame has fed our hopes will rise again,
give us the time and body to build nay give us our lives instead.
