How the mighty have fallen
to save our dear shores,
whether it be on land, sea or in the air.
Our hearts weep
for all those precious souls
whose mortal life
has been cut short – somewhere.
No tomorrows will they see.
Nor their children grow,
doomed to an eternal sleep
on some foreign shore.
Memorials will be erected
to Honour their sacrifice,
monuments of stone on which
will only bare their name,
but not whom they were,
only memories held
by their loved ones
will forever know who they were.
