Butterflies Poem by Itumeleng Tebagano

Butterflies

Rating: 5.0

You came out of nowhere flapping around
Flying with ease like you never felt the ground
Enticing me to come along and to join you in flight
Colours of promise illuminating from you brightly
My slighted heart could easily close you outside

I guess I am a real sucker for romance after all
I had given up but I opened up a space so small
And here you keep coming around to reassure
Summer smiles spring on all my cheeks for sure

You shine a glimmer of hope in the far distance
Happiness budges my feet for another instance
My dried up tears move aside for all the grins
Faithfulness shuts one by one the inner sirens

I spring along in a limp as my every fear dies
Breathing in moments that give me butterflies
