Words Poem by Itumeleng Tebagano

Words

Hidden scriptures in a deed have more volume than the spoken
Forbidden words escape within the actions of the heart broken
We run for cover when it comes to telling the reality that cries
The touches and the looks emanating from inside never tells lies

I sit up in the night wondering how I am going to let you in on it
How I adore the way you are just lying here with me in a perfect fit
But what resonates in the imprints of my soul is how I am damaged
But here I am laughing with you wondering how you’ve managed

To reach a wounded essence and shone a small light in the way
With you I not only smile I beam as I keep the troubles at bay
A shattered mind now is slowly starting to become a little glued
My soul frolics in the air, now the demons are securely subdued

My silent whispers scream my affection from me to your ears
Are you here to answer my unwritten prayers through the years
Be it fleeting just take me with you when you leap into oblivion
In my mind we will be as consistent as two charged opposite ions

Soak me in through all my deeds and take them for a love token
See, hidden scriptures in a deed have more volume than the spok
