Butterflies Poem by Garrett Binford

Butterflies

(boy)
I saw you today, for the first time.
My breath was taken away, you blew my mind.
I had never seen anyone as beautiful as you.
I stood there in awe, just wondering.
By some slight chance would you be my girl?

(girl)
I saw you today, for the last time.
I choked on air, I tried to erase you from my mind.
I had never seen anyone as handsome as you.
You make me hurt when I look at you.
By some strange reason could we be together? No, never!

(both)
When I see you I feel like a god,
Pure yet unclean in your eyes.
When I see you I fall to the ground,
Cause my stomach turns to butterflies.

(boy)
I can finally get back onto my knees.
I can't look away, now I'm on my feet.
I walk your way, but you run away.
I run after thinking of something to say.

(girl)
I'm running away and all I hear,
Is you running after, wanting to hold me near.
But I'm not gonna let you,
Cause that feeling you give me scares me,
So I have to get away from here.

both)
All I know is that you give me a funny feeling inside.
And it scares me out of my mind.
Oh, you give me butterflies, butterflies, butterflies.
