Oh, I just buttoned my last button,
And went walking down the street,
Where a stranger I saw,
Asked me this.
Where did I buy so many multi colored buttons?
I told him I bought them at
New York City, Tenessee, Baltimore and another city.
He was perplexed about why I had a hundred buttons on,
And I told my story on and on.
I told him I travelled to cities galore,
I bought buttons and buttons more.
I bought ones with different colors each,
Even colors like mangoe, pears and peach.
He listened so carefully you know.
He was so taken by the by my show.
I just had to reach into my pants pocket now,
To give him a thousand buttons - wow!
He blew kisses at me with buttons in his hand,
They went helter-skelter and I ran,
To catch their multi-colors in my hand.
