By What Boundless Mercy, my Great God

By what boundless mercy, my Great God,
Have you allowed me to be a lover?
Me, the unaware! Me the illusioned!
Me the delusioned! Me the rebel!

How is it that you have made me hear,
Your sweet song of love?
How is it that you made me see your world,
Radiant with your light?
How is it that you get me out of darkness,
Into light?
How is it that your lover's heart,
Is all aflame with the fire of your divinity?
How is it that your tasbihaat and azkaar,
Sound in me?
How is it that you gift me the pearls of wisdom,
And verses of knowledge?
How is it that you have breathed your Spirit,
In this body of clay and water?

I know, you have manifest, your divinity to me;
I see your beauty in your manifestation!
I gaze with love:
On the radiance of your manifestation!
I have become, you know:
A small gazer of the light of your grace!
