Camano Island Poem by Holly Jamestone

Camano Island

Forested pathways, lush plentiful needles
Clinging to the evergreen brother branch
Gently leading to their mother trunk
Cascading from ground to sky

Sprawling hillsides, windswept beaches
Distant snowcapped peaks whose glass-like
Reflections dive ‘neath waves the way a snow cone
Melts into its wrapper on a warm summer day

Abundant orchards, panoramic island beauty
A non-thirsty shore gracing Elger Bay
Glistening in the sun and sharing itself
One wave at a time with the Puget Sound

Alaskan snow geese stand at attention
In the meadow along the road
Oblivious are they to the clash
Of traffic and nature

Rural growth melding with a
Turquoise sea of white foam
As loyal driftwood return
For another season

Nearby llamas smiling in the sun
Glad hearts and horizon awash
With the creator's artwork
As nature and time leave one awestruck on
