Can I? Poem by Jeff Taylor

Can I?

Can I whisper in your ear, dear?
Can I speak of the things that you want to hear?
Can it be that we have found a new round
around this silly old worn-down town?

Can I kiss you, sweet caress?
Can I let you touch my neck?
Is it hard to see that between you and me
we found an opportunity?

Can I lead you, can I steer
Do you trust this man up here?
Can I show you where to go
or would you rather just not know?

Can I speak to you, my friend?
Can we go back to the beginning?
Can we laugh, and dance, and sing,
and take it back to the beginning?

It can never go back to the beginning but it can move forward. Remember that
