I Want You Just The Way You Are. Poem by Jeff Taylor

I Want You Just The Way You Are.

Rating: 3.5

I want poems with teeth.
I want poems that snarl at the stranger outside.
I want poems so daring that Evel Kneivel can't read them.
I want poems that take me on an off road ride across the Sarengeti.
I want poems that aren't afraid to cry.
I want poems that aren't afraid to be rugged.
I want you, unedited, unabridged, untampered,
Just the way you are.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
So often I feel that poetry is delegated to the land of the intellectual, the academic. But poetry is a human expression and should be treated as such.

I almost never edit my own works. I like to view them as snippets of me at the time I wrote them, and except for punctuation corrections, they almost always stand as originally penned in the moment.

organic poetry, what a thought. Seems these days we are all pushed towards perfection by correction. But correction by who! Keep on looking and writing Jeff.
