Can Sara? Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Can Sara?

Can Sara?

For long I
-have learned to mistrust
-not people,
-but rulers, governments
-media

Is the same for deeply brainwashed
-or those who
-in a way
-and somehow
-are barred and limited
-by the rule of cruel
-or the walls
-Narrow-mind of dogma

True it can be for the fans of
-this ism
-or other
-by faith or politics
-or cultures, boundaries
-or flags and anthems
-history, literature
-anything, anywhere

My feelings, possibly, started in Iran
-still kid, student
-One of my classmates
-Bahardoost who was best
-was picked up by Savak
- (as I heard)

Some said that he was killed
-whatever, he vanished
-because of politics
-I never saw or heard
-he turned to fog in sun
-of summer

Losing him has been pain
-head to toe I was burned

Or maybe when I was in States
-in time of elections
-our teacher, a US officer
-with tough tone demanded
-"No talk of politics in here! "

"So it is the same shit, "
I felt and must have said.

This is why from then
-or before or after
-I see things with suspect

I climbed the stair to highest
-researching on El Che
-had been right to doubt the
-shah and his replacement, and neighbours
-Kremlin, MI6 and London,
-KGB, Washington, CIA
-all of them
-none of them is exempt
-corrupt is the power
-and the more, corrupter
-from past and ancient to today
-blood is their intake …not water…

Recently died someone
-One of those who will be
-buried deep underneath
-covered by many lies
-written in some fact-book
-published by CIA

Sara knows that person
-the two met
-will she be able to
- (for God's sake)
-save at least one victim
-One of the too many
-who lost to ‘one percent'

Noriega was crushed
-Sara, I wish you luck! ! !
