Can'T Spell Katelyn Without Lyn (Lyin') Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Can'T Spell Katelyn Without Lyn (Lyin')

When she stole my heart,
she stole my life.
Piercing strings in my arms and legs,
I became her puppet.
She'd call at late hours,
and crave my attention.
I'd sneak out to come to her.
Her hands did not know how to caress,
but merely how to touch.
She'd always gotten her way,
even if it'd hurt me.
When her girlfriend left,
I'd come to lay in her bed.
She'd rub on my lap,
dancing between my legs.
She knew what she was doing.
I fell in love with her,
or rather, I just loved her,
I doubt she's ever known love.
I asked her to marry me,
to spend her life with me.
She never said one way or the other.
She'd hardly taken her ring off for me,
and it burned through me everytime.
I loved her, unconditionally,
and she'd lie to me just the same.
Lie about her mother, about her life, every detail.
About cancer, and giving birth,
about the love she had for me.
The day I said goodbye for the last time,
was the best choice I've made.
