Cannot - Poem by Ryan Holmes
She cannot hear this wrath I scream
Cause I’m slowly evading her
I stay awake so I can’t dream
I try hard not to remember
But every time I see her smile
There’s no more room left for denial
I know that I must stay away
Fore each and every single day
My blood inside me grows colder
My tongue grows a little bolder
I say things I start to regret
I say things she’ll never forget
If I keep up this way of being
She’ll start to turn away from me
As I have turned away from her
The tears make images a blur
I cannot see her walk away
For my tears are in the way
I cannot help that I’m to blame
I can’t feel naught but bitter shame
