Captivated Poem by Elaine Battersby

Captivated

Captivated as I am by you, free, I feel
My soul is light, ungoverned, like a bird,
Never knowing where the wind may take it,
But always knowing of its return.
Like the ever-changing flow of water,
In a moment wild and restless,
Then calm it soothes
Its'grassy banks.

On a mid- July day by noon, the sun is ferocious,
But by dusk it is soft and mellow, gentle and caressing.
And as I climb towards the summit of a mountain,
I stop.
Below, the valleys twisting to evade me,
And then I rest, my vision is less blurred, my soul and body are united and are one again, in a land,
I have known before.
