Elaine Battersby Poems

A voice of truth, of reason,
speaks out with splendid clarity,
dismissed by raised newspapers and turned heads.
Indifferent to his words his truth.
...

Awakening
...

My grandma, before she was dead.
Naught wrong with world, it's people in it.
I think you could say, it's the same today,
As it was of yesterdays.
...

I saw her from a distance.

Body swollen and slouched, she sat motionless,
Sad
...

5.

She 85 years young
With a mind of her own,
and a will of steel that's for sure.
Not afraid to speak out,
...

When you look at me the way you do,

you are the sunshine in my cloud.
...

My world seems much smaller now.
Lonelier, more hostile.
I feel imprisioned in my body.
Trapped, restricted, by my aching limbs,
...

Naïve and fresh faced,
sons and lovers,
husbands brothers,
young and brave.
...

Reflecting on a love one may never know.
I am saddened, that- in its entirety it lays, unexplored.
As dense and as beautiful as a hidden rain forest,
Lush and green,
...

They say that curiosity killed the cat.
But I'm not too sure about that.
I am often a little curious, about what's up the road,
Or round the bend.
...

I am here, I'm there.
Seems like l'm everywhere.
Looking through the mirror,
Running down the road
...

I am silent,
only a soft and gentle flow
of clear blue water caresses my brow.
...

Blue
you moody blue,
How you move me.
In a moment still and clear
...

14.

I open my eyes to a feast of exquisite beauty.
once tight anonymous buds,
burst out into a wondrous canvas of green
emerald, olive, shamrock and lime,
...

I remember your debonair ways,
your whit and humour.
And those lovely blue eyes reflecting the eternity of your gaze.
...

16.

Dishes, dishes every where,

But, I’m the cook, so I think that’s fair.
Dishes, dishes, everywhere.
...

17.

Like nomads of the sky, they roam, restless.relentless.
Their shapes and colour forever changing.
Echoeing the mood of our souls.
Dark, light, optimistic, angry.
...

You pass then bye withour even noticing them.
And if you do, you dismiss them as being to grey, to old.
In your percieved importance and arrogance,
you mock their slowness, their faded looks.
...

Sitting on the top deck,
I watch the swirling lights,
shine brightly on the rain
lashed paines, late at night.
...

You autumn beauty, with your patchwork coat of
red, green and gold, such elegance.
Your rich tapestry of golden splendour,
brightens our grey streets.

Elaine Battersby Biography

I have only recently started writing again. My poems in some ways are little stories, my slant on the things I see, feel. New to Poem Hunter I will be posting quite a few more shortly. I welcome your comments feedback. My own, journey, sometimes struggle, has helped me not to be afraid to speak my truth. Something I would like to share with others.)

Voice Of Truth

A voice of truth, of reason,
speaks out with splendid clarity,
dismissed by raised newspapers and turned heads.
Indifferent to his words his truth.
oh, for the openness of unfenced paddocks,
which tempt the flight of mind and spirit.
Freeing us to be, to feel.
To fulfil our deepest, wildest dreams and desires,
without remorse or fear.
Raising us up, for up, onto a higher plain
of limitless possibilities, beauty and creativity.
Grasping the meaning of life, of love.

Just to add Elaine (because no room) thank you for submitting really spiritual poetry. Elaine I am hopeless at writing poetry, my wife Brenda is much better than I, she puts me to shame, but I shall share the voice of truth with her. Kind regards.John Lawrence

Hi, just like to say after reading The voice of truth and what a beautiful piece of poetry, because I always like or try to aspire to truth in my own life. So after reading and I quote -Raising us up, for up, onto a higher plain of limitless possibilities, beauty and creativity.Grasping the meaning of life, of love. It really is in opinion just superb philosophy, and I just love spiritual words of truth (as I see it and obviously you do as well) J.Lawrence
