Hubble invites us beyond the blue
to a heavenly fantasy land
with its brilliant sidereal strand
in colorful panoramic view
of Carina the Nebula Grand.
The sculpted cloud lies in southern skies
and consequently is less well-known
than Orion on his hunter's throne,
regardless of its far greater size
as well as the stunning pictures shown.
Though the greetings come once a season
when the old year, with all its worry,
away in a twinkling will scurry,
starwatching needs no rhyme or reason
midst the festive hurry and flurry.
So why not take a moment to gaze
at empyreal visions above
as we turn our concern to the dove
of peace on earth in these holidays
for joy to the world, good will, and love?
