Caring Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Caring

Rating: 5.0

When you love, you are no longer alone.
What you tenderly possess; you do not own.
It is your most valued commodity.
But, it can become a curious oddity.

If you hold on too tight or assume priority
You may suddenly lose your authority.
Love that is sincerely given beguiles eyes.
It can vanish into the air before you realize.

What was it that inevitably went wrong?
Wasn’t the affection mutual and strong?
Comprehension is no where to be found…
The incongruent pieces simply confound.

The space between us is like an isolating fog…
I speak to you; but it is only a monologue.
It is like treading and not being able to swim.
Separation is like losing an essential limb.

On occasion, when you approach or are near.
I do not speak, my emotions are numb I fear.
What was once so intense is now suspended.
Our love for one another has abruptly ended.

What seems like a lifetime has passed by…
We cross paths and there is a subtle reply.
Years have brought us back to square one
I smile and care, but I behave like a nun...

No longer willing to give up my essence.
Being guarded when I am in your presence.
It is all right; you are not obligated to me.
We still care for each other with humility.

This is not merely a poetry of words, but also reflects the very human nature. Caring is mutual and cannot be one way. It requires no big words to express, but needs the feeling of deep love in one's own heart to care for the other. The message is very much clear to those, who need to know what 'Caring' is?
