Carrying A Self Poem by RIC BASTASA

Carrying A Self

Rating: 5.0

you carry a self with you
and you barely know who
but just the same you carry it with you
simply because you can't go
you can't be without that self
that 's you, and sometimes
what the self wants you
simply can't do but you must
lest there be a division within
and so in yourself there are rooms
where you and this self and the
rest can be at home....

give each a space to be itself and
yourself, toast and celebrate...

then mind you, you smile
now, there is unity in this diversity...

lust, love, greed, charity, silence
noise, solitude, crowd, cowardice,
bravery, honesty and some much
needed lies, visibility and invisibility...

you must learn, these are necessities.
