Caught Up Poem by Dorsey Baker

Caught Up

She sheds
her skin like a snake
showing what
is underneath
her bitter
her sweet
she is both
bread and meat
she can be
a full meal
or just a sugary treat
she is too close
to the fire
and she feels the heat
she is the accuser
and she is the accused
she is accepted
and she is refused
the weeping willow
is caught
in her web of lies
salty tears
burn her eyes!
