Caution Uncaught Poem by Melody McKinstrie

Caution Uncaught

I have never caught caution.
I have only felt it fleetingly in the wind,
I was stunned for a moment,
But not paralyzed.
I was able to move again,
With little effort,
I just began.
Caution did not seem to ground me.
It only made me stop for a split second.
As if to act like the bite of a mosquito
Or other pest,
As if to act like a single rain drop,
that falls on your head.
Saying..hey you PAY ATTENTION!
Be thankful that you can either swat the pest away,
Or take shelter from a downpour,
The thing is you have to move.
Once you have assessed the situation.
Caution is about inaction.
But it also is a grace worth saving.
Eventually caution knows its place,
In the past,
It does not belong in the future,
As letting loose of one's inhibitions,
taking life's challenges head on,
Facing one's demons,
Tasks that need to be overcome.
So, uncatching caution,
It is necessary for growth,
It is necessary for life,
It is the recipe for perseverance.
And we should sing it's praise.
