Little Soldiers Of Peace Poem by Melody McKinstrie

Little Soldiers Of Peace

Rating: 5.0

When I see a black and white child hugging
I think of them as little soldiers of peace.
Much like white doves are a symbol
Mixed race children hugging and playing
With one another offer the same peace filled release.

Would that a day comes
When race does not matter so much.
That folks are more tolerant.
Until then we have these examples
These hallmarks
Of inspiring human interaction.

Some folks might want to say shush.
Do not talk openly of such things.
But if we do not,
I think intolerance wins.

I want all little children
To grow and thrive
And just be.
It can be so if we strive
If we give them the
Proper encouragement
And nurturing.

And we will have the best example
Of human beings
They are giving us a template.
They surely do not need to fight a battle
Do they?
As our little soldiers of peace.
