Celebrating Independence Day, Aug 15th 2015 At Kfmsr, Cbe Poem by Dr John Celes

The day has come this year again for us
To celebrate Independence grandly;
We got our freedom from Britain this day –
A golden day in Indian history truly.

We must recall the freedom fighters who
Had sacrificed their lives for country’s sake;
Our countrymen who laid their lives, shed blood,
To get the freedom, we enjoy today.

We cannot stay divided anymore;
The integrity of our nation’s prime;
Let no one stall the progress of people;
All citizens must well behave and act.

Our freedom must be used in proper ways;
The poor and destitute need help much more;
We cannot waste our money down the drain;
We have to save each morsel of food, grain.

The fight against terrorism can’t wane;
We should not hate our neighbors anytime;
Nature’s furies take many lives with ease;
We must offer a helping hand to next.

Pray that our country fights off every foe;
Pray that our leaders lead the people well;
Pray that illiteracy is erased soon;
Pray that a vibrant India leads the world!

Remember God has blessed us in this land;
We can’t contract vices of any kind;
We must heed to our conscience and be wise;
May God bless India and our fellowmen!
