Celestial Ascent: The Prophet's Ladder Of Light Poem by Mohammad Younus

Celestial Ascent: The Prophet's Ladder Of Light

In the ink of night, a door swung open—
Muhammad (peace upon him) ascended,
unbound by earth, beyond the Kaaba's shadow,
past the moon's silver ribs, into the furnace of stars.
The Quran whispers it: *Isra' and Mi'raj*—
a path woven by angels' breath,
a journey not of flesh, but of spirit,
a testament to the boundless reach of divine grace.

He rose through the spheres, seven veils of existence,
each heaven a mirror reflecting the soul's ascent.
Adam's sorrow, a reminder of humanity's fall;
Moses' plea, a cry for guidance in the wilderness;
Jesus' compassion, a balm for the wounded heart;
until the seventh, where Abraham stood—
keeper of the covenant, hands cupping embers
of nations yet unborn, his faith a fire unquenched.

*Imam*, they called him—
not a title, but an axis,
where all compasses break,
where the finite meets the infinite.
Ibrahim became father of all nations, not by lineage, but by surrender,
his name forged in the kiln of devotion.
Not patriarch of tribe or tongue,
but the architect of an open sanctuary,
its ropes stretching beyond sand and scripture,
its embrace wide enough to hold all of creation.

The Prophet returned, his cloak heavy with visions:
veils torn, thresholds dissolved,
the boundaries of time and space rendered meaningless.
No longer just a voice in prayer,
he became a bridge—
step by step, a *ummah* rose,
its pillars rooted in that midnight flight,
its foundation laid in the unity of the unseen.

Adam's sigh, Moses' call, Abraham's flame—
all folded into the Messenger's stride,
as earth learned to walk the sky's road.
What is leadership but a ladder of light?
Each rung, a prophet's whisper;
each heaven, a lesson in lifting the world.
From Adam's soil to Abraham's horizon,
the ascent lives on,
in every heart that dares to climb,
in every soul that seeks the divine.

The *Mi'raj* is not merely a historical event,
but an eternal invitation—
to rise above the temporal,
to transcend the self,
to witness the infinite in the finite.
It is a call to leadership,
not of power, but of service;
not of dominion, but of surrender.
For in the ascent, we find our purpose—
to be bearers of light,
to be bridges between heaven and earth,
to be vessels of the divine will.
Peace be upon Muhammad and his Aal—the Godconscious.
