Mon homme clef anglais est ma chere chouchou;
l'amant de ma vie, ma jeunesse et mon age.
Mon coeur s'appartient a lui et lui seul;
les enfants de mon chair sont les siens et ils portent son courroux.
Maintenant grandis aux ans avancant par les douzaines
le baiser du miel, les levres du vin et du feu
s'evanouissent avec felicite dans les ans distants la-bas
mais tous mes jours de Bonheur et d'emerveillement
sont bercesdans ses bras et ses yeux entiers.
Ils nous portent sous les eaux du monde
au-dela passant les poteaux d'etoiles d'une planete distante
Et se glissant a travers l'algue de l'ocean
ils nous emmelent de cordes et de fils de souvenirs
ou nous avons ete ensemble, toi et moi.

Technically, the sonnet rhymes: abab/cddc/eedfgh. Not the usual sonnet pattern.
This is a love poem to her husband, Alex, which she wrote in 1979. He is an auto mechanic I think ('monkey wrench')and they have teenage children. All her happiness and wonder 'are cradled in his arms and eyes entire'.More imaginatively, his love carries them undersea and out past a distant planet and 'through the seaweed of the ocean', with 'ropes and yarn of memories'. The play on the word 'yarn' is fine: it can mean 'string' or 'a story told'. The story of the times they have been together, 'you and I'.
I find this poem of married love for life most impressive, especially compared to our times of marriage breakdowns, separations, and divorces. Margaret Walker offers a more stable, conservative portrait of married love.
Love Song For Alex, written in 1979 by Margaret Walker(1915-1998) really reflects love and heart belongs to him due to his lovely words. All our days of happiness and amazement come near us through vision in front of eyes. This poem is definitely very brilliantly translated with proper expression of original poem....10
