Chant Bamboos

詠竹

幽篁錦簇環山嶺
翠葉婆娑護道林
傲氣不修修傲骨
虛懷節尚尚虛心
梢翻飲露淩霜意
籜解盤苞出筍金
起舞筠風搖影直
巧成長笛吐龍吟


Chant Bamboos

The deep bamboo forest
is a brocade cluster
around the mountain ridges
The emerald leaves
are whirling
guard of the road forest

Don't practice arrogance
do priding bones
the modest bosom is noble
the modest heart is noble

Their tips turning
drink dew
resist frost
Strip off the sheaths
open the leaves
out of the shoots

The dancing pericarp wind
shakes the straight shadows
The dragon roars
clever to be made of the long flutes
