Chemotherapy Protocol Poem by Boghos Artinian

Chemotherapy Protocol

The hair had fallen; his pale skin hung loose.
The eyes feigned marble; his smile was forced.
Such was the patient who was inquiring
Whether it was weeks, or, possibly days
To deliverance – to the final rest.
I comforted him, did not give him hope.
“It’s not convincing, your talk to patients! ”
Said she, the mistress- the secretary
Of our drug-crazy, drug firm oriented
Omnipotent boss: “Gentlemen, we have
A new miracle—SPX 40.
It significantly prolongs life;
In cases like him it was tried with success.
In three patients who received this drug
The survival was, at twenty-one weeks,
Thirty-one percent. Whereas it was-
Mark this gentlemen- but thirteen percent
In the five controls who took the regular drugs.
Incorporate it in our protocol
And give it I.V. in his patent vein
