Cherries Without The Pits Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Cherries Without The Pits

Experiences to live them,
Adds more to one's wisdom.
As aging does,
To come with acknowledging...
What one knows to have grown through,
Is easier to do to leave unexplained.

Difficult it becomes to give advice.
Or pretend life to live it,
Is a bowl of cherries without the pits.
Although acquiring patience and tolerance.
With peace of mind to get.
Comes with a lot of self forgiveness.
Done to admit and realize,
Not listening to others or their advice given...
Accomplishes one's own mistakes to make.
And for whatever the reason,
This achieves the receiving of wisdom.

"My children don't pay any attention to me.
No matter what I say,
They want to live life done their way."

These words I have heard to hear myself.
Only to smile.
And thank God I was able,
To recover from my own stupidity.

"Did you hear what I said?
My children pay no attention to me.
At all."

-Yeah.
I heard you.
But...
I don't know who to congratulate.
Them or you.-

"And...
What is that suppose to mean? "

-Well...
If they listen to you,
They wouldn't make their own mistakes.
And if they make their own mistakes,
You and they too...
Will have learned something to share.
Teachable moments and lessons to learn,
Ultimately has benefits.
Even if the price to pay is high.-

"I don't want to pay that price."

-Why not?
Someone paid it for you! -

"Someone you took or still take for granted."
