When I look upon this country scene
It warms my heart immediately
It brings back many memories
That means the world to me.
Chickens at our home as a kid
Cluck clucking all around
Yes, I hear them even now
I love that chicken sound.
They would pick and peck
Everything they could
Out in yards or fields
Or out in our country woods.
They had a warm winter house too
Confined in a fenced in yard
But mom had plans for them
For me it was really so very hard.
"Don't name them", mom told me
She was right, it did hurt me
But I still smile even today
I love those chicken memories.
nice. i'd prefer more punctuation, at least a period at end of line 3 so i wouldn't think you were following memories with means. ;) i think it 'hurt' the chickens more than it hurt you...to be 'disposed of'. to MyPoemList. bri (:
