Child Brutality Poem by Preston Mwiinga

Child Brutality

Rating: 4.3

My education has been blocked, for I am a girl child
Told my place is in the kitchen, but I have dreams running wild
Mary, Jane, and Tasha, all born with potential
But their paths diverged, one story consequential

Jane, with supportive parents, believed in her from the start
Now a doctor, breaking barriers, following her heart
Mary, burdened by financial strife, forced to give up her dream
Married off to an older man, life not as it may seem

And Tasha, with journalist dreams, preyed upon by a man
Her virginity taken, her future taken from her hands
We need more stories like Jane's, of strength and success
To put abusers behind bars, to fight back, to progress

Educate a girl child, and watch the nation thrive
Empower her, support her, watch her dreams come alive
Together, like African bread, let's stand by her side
Protecting her rights, in unity we abide.
