Childhood Yesterday Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Childhood Yesterday

Rating: 5.0

When a time is, asunder
An age so much younger
When grass becomes more than just green

Running all day
Every challenge a game
A dog beside you when you played

Back then, we were younger
Innocence, with wonder
In the schools we all morning prayed

We loved being children
Baseball in-season
The reason a hurry could not wait

There was a sweetness in Mary
Her spirit so happy
Then one day we were no longer the same

The children have played
Summer fun had to change
A child inside, still remained

Not long, then left longing
A wish so much, haunting
In our children relived every day

Though time changes us older
Love grows so much stronger
For our children to have, yesterday
