Chin Up Poem by Margaret O Driscoll

Chin Up

Rating: 5.0

Many times he had to leave
No work here, he couldn't stay
Suitcase in hand he left for the boat
I'd wave, then I'd run away
I'd go off into the garden
To cry alone quietly there
He had said to me 'chin up'
So no one was ever aware

Keep the bright side out
Was his wise advice to me
So I smile and stay good humoured
For all around me to see
At times I open up the dam
Allow my tears run free
Then I say to myself 'chin up'
For I know that he's watching me!
