Choices Poem by Bruce Yeager

Choices

Rating: 4.5

I would rather be a lover
than one with a hateful heart
I would rather never finish
than he who never start

I would rather live my life
with the choices that I make
I would rather give to others
than from the others take

I would rather tell the truth
than to live within a lie
I would rather fail an honest effort
than those who never try

I would rather live with trust
than one who wont believe
I would rather be an honest man
than those who would deceive

I would rather loose my life
Than to take an others one
I would be a man of peace
than a solider with a gun

I would rather carry in my heart
The thought that I will always try
I would rather know that I was wrong
than to know that I told a lie

I would rather live a life that's sure
than cry self pity tears
I would rather live a life that is short
than stumble through the years

I would rather live a live that's poor
than to profit from greed
I would rather help my fellow man
than take advantage of their need

our life can never be so simple
so we give our feelings a voice
it is expressed in everything we do
and in each and every choice
