Cholent - Poem by gershon hepner

Digesting cholent beans,
schloffing Yidden tend to snore
and then disgustingly exhale.
Hardly ever do they fail
to fall asleep, though some deplore
their far from lean cuisines.

This poem’s Vorlage in 9/1/99 was:

Digesting cholent beans,
schloffing Yidden snore
and silently exhale.

The poem was inspired by anonymous Jewish haikus:

No fins, no flippers,
the gefilte fish swims
with some difficulty.

In the ice sculpture
reflected bar mitzvah guests
nosh on chopped liver.

The sparkling blue sea
beckons me to wait one hour
after my sandwich.

Cherry blossoms bloom.
Sure, it's beautiful, but is
it good for the Jews?

Is one Nobel Prize
so much to ask from a child
after all I've done?
