Christmas Is... Poem by Jason Summers

Christmas Is...

Rating: 2.2

...giving food and gifts to those who are less fortunate
Preparing your tree with lights, candy, garland, and ornaments.
...seeing the beautiful lights in a child's eyes
How excited they get when they see Santa every year at this time.
...looking for more than three hours for a gift only to become completely lost
Taking every last pill trying to get rid of the headache you just caused.
...snuggling up on the couch to watch the same Frosty and Rudolph as when you were a kid,
Watching your children grow up passing on the same traditions your parents did.
...nostalgic memories of the past that we miss
Those annoying friends and relatives we dread giving a hug and a kiss.
...sharing in peace the warmth and the love
Wondering how you got stuck with the fruitcake you could never get rid of.
...telling the story of Jesus with Mary and the Three Wise Men
Getting together for snowball fights and trying to build the block's biggest snowman.
...reading 'The Night Before Christmas' every Christmas Eve
Tucking the children in bed and as excited for what Santa might bring.
...looking back on the changes of what we had back then
This is the true meaning of Christmas we long for again and again.
