Caught Up In The Moment-A Woman's Perspective Poem by Jason Summers

Caught Up In The Moment-A Woman's Perspective

Rating: 2.2

I never liked the idea of a bounce-back date
I just couldn't get used to it if you can relate.
But there seemed something special about this one,
He was gentle, soft-spoken, and I actually had fun.
He touched my hand when he spoke like a woman would
So tender, yet so strong and oh, he smelled so good.
His eyes were intense as he listened to every word I said,
As my fantasy arose, 'hmm...I wonder if he's like this in bed.'
But could this be real? Is this a man before me?
Or is it an illusion? A wolf in sheep's clothing?
He walked me to my car and asked if we could do this again,
And this is where the story begins.
Of course I said, 'yes, ' then I knew what was next,
I closed my eyes and pressed my lips to his,
I was going to savor the moment of our first kiss...

After a year had passed we had continued dating
And I still feel like I am daydreaming.
A ring of the doorbell and I knew it was him
But I looked through the peephole before I let him in.
Flowers dancing behind his back with a card in hand,
Instantly I knew that was my man.
He stepped through the threshold and dropped to one knee
My eyes filled with tears as he asked to marry me.

Five years have come and gone with a boy that is one and a girl that is three,
I could never imagine this picture perfect family.
My husband comes home and our kids rush to see,
'Daddy, daddy we missed you. Do you have something for me? '
A wonderful husband and two beautiful kids
I close my eyes and think life couldn't get any better than this...
But wait...we still haven't gotten past our first kiss...
I open my eyes realizing I got caught up in the moment that could be,
And now I can live my life long fantasy.
