I decided to go to a party with friends I've known for years
And the first thing I noticed was a tub full of beers.
I grew up believing I could hold my own with a few
But a few became too many as the length of the party drew.
As the wind wisps through your let down hair
A voice calls out to startle your mare.
'I am the Great Spirit, the Great Mystery,
Listen to me for this will be history.
Federal Bureau of Investigation,
More like 'Families Broken by Interrogation.'
In courts we are said to be lying while under oath.
The government agents say their own lying truth.
They grew up living next door
Playing together and spending the night to sleep-over.
Their childhood memories are remembered days of the past
Through the continued habits now the memories still last.
A Mother's love is stronger than any bough,
And we know how boughs can break.
She can turn tears into a smile,
Because a Mother knows the love it takes.
If you think of pain which is extreme
This poem is worse than any you dream.
There was a man who loved everyone and Him
Who spared our lives to carry no sin.
Compassionate thoughts and feelings of emptiness
Are almost always expressed in sadness, grief, or distress.
But in conflict of life and death there is a pause
For life is a common interest, for death there is no cause.
The year of indigenous people, nineteen ninety-three,
Still we are struggling to be free.
Government money for our reservations getting lost in the political confusion,
Telling us we're receiving it through their mixed-up delusions.
The days that have past I've been in wonder.
Does she like me, hear me, or think I'm a blunder?
I think to myself, 'she has her own life and I'm not included.'
With the rain dripping down as my feelings become diluted.
Time and again,
When to begin.
Honesty and trust
Is always a must.
