Christmas Wish Poem by Wendy Boyce

Christmas Wish

I want to go to the endless sleep
To lose this burden that weighs me down
Weary past exhaustion
I wish I could weep but don't have the energy

Drained and hopeless I wait to die
All joy extinguished, no life left
To close my eyes for that final time,
To open my arms to oblivion

Days are long
The nights are longer
All efforts are in vain
Yet I struggle to explain
How I want the world to fall away

No more to struggle
No more to hurt
To finally, finally
Find that always elsuive peace

A soul bowed down with
Pain and suffering
Love and peace
Way beyond reach

All hope gone like dust in the wind
Shredded and scattered
My soul screams
But nobody hears its desperate pleas

Let the last leaf fall to careless cruel winter
Let oblivion and the darkness
Cover me and bring a merciful end
To this soul who is always left unwanted

It is Christmas
No season of joy for me
Just lonely misery
The deepest despair

My Christmas wish is to end it all
To answer oblivion's call
To slip into that last goodnight
My soul free to find its peace

Very heart-felt- - frighteningly so, my dear. Solomon below says it well. God bless you and keep you- - and keep writing- there is power in your words

Is it not for such one that the birthday boy of Christmas came to the world? To give life, joy and hope! Great expression! Love it!
