Clearer At Night Poem by Paul Jonathan Stertz

Clearer At Night

When the stars and the moon sprinkle the sky,
When I lay down my head and I close my eyes;
I slip away slowly while lying in bed
To a land full of wonderment, there in my head.

Things come in focus while sleeping at night,
Some full of pleasure, and some full of fright.
I would not trade them for buckets of gold,
Dreams in the night utter mysteries untold.

Reveal themselves clearly-these things in dreams,
When reality's challenged, and tears at the seams.
But when I awaken and must face the day
In silence I ponder...'What's real anyway? '

Reality shifts while my body takes rest,
With the tick of the clock my heart thumps in my chest.
Worlds of amazement before me unwind,
Dreams show me secrets from deep in my mind.
