Climate Change Fertiliser Issues Poem by Terence George Craddock

Climate Change Fertiliser Issues

climate change let's
chat again about
more hidden swept
under carpet causes
fruits vegetables don't
get off scot-free
fertilisers added that
contain magic nitrogen

have been used
to produce more crops
faster than old time natural fertilisers
manure ground
bone used for millennia;
modern fertilisers produce more nitrous oxide

emissions a MIT report; Massachusetts
Institute of Technology a private land-grant
research university located in Cambridge
Massachusetts claims nitrous oxide accounts
for only a small fraction of global worldwide;
greenhouse gas emissions pound for pound
yes this is the heart attack kicker to the heart
nitrous oxide warms the planet 300 times as

much as carbon dioxide found in fossil fuel
car emissions contrast this with methane
80 times more potent at warming the plant
than carbon dioxide now add forgotten data
daily lightning strikes zap strip gas methane;
from atmosphere in a year a source estimates

lightning may remove about 12 teragrams
of methane from the atmosphere every year
equivalent to about 0.3 per cent of the total
methane emissions globally a study suggests
more than 10 per cent of the atmosphere's;
supply of good cleansing radicals could
be produced by our friend lightning storms
who would have thought lightning helps
