Cloaked In Night's Black Velvet Poem by Mohammad Younus

Cloaked In Night's Black Velvet

Cloaked in night's black velvet,
I sit in quiet reverence, listening—
A call from God whispers through the stillness,
Eyes fixed upon the formless, the unseen,
While soul and stars, like ancient musicians,
Weave melodies bridging the Great Mystery.

"Why do you sing? " I ask the stars,
Their shimmering voices cascading in celestial tones:
"To teach you the art of surrender,
To reveal the beauty of simply being,
To remind you that eternity breathes in each moment."

Beneath this infinite dome of light and shadow,
I stand, a child of Adam,
Dust and spirit entwined,
Remembering the covenant once forged,
When the breath of my Lord carried the question:
"Am I not your Lord? "
And my soul answered,
"Yes, my Lord, " in a vow etched beyond time.

Now, that sacred voice hums within my core,
An eternal hymn echoing through the ages,
Resonating in the stars' timeless song.
Through this voice, I am bound to all—
Threaded into the infinite fabric of existence,
Where every atom hums its allegiance,
Confirming that the same divine thread
Weaves the whole tapestry of creation.

Here, in this sacred stillness,
I glimpse the unity beneath the veil,
Where soul and stars, shadow and light,
Sing their truth in perfect harmony,
Calling me to remember, to return,
To rest in the One who is all.
