Close To A Perfect Spring Day Poem by Francis Duggan

Close To A Perfect Spring Day

Rating: 5.0

In the sunny mostly blue sky just a few clouds of grey
It is such a beautiful September day
The countryside lush and green after early Spring rain
With such weather anyone should not complain
With the sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
Welcome swallows are chasing flying insects in the sky
With young to feed in their mud nest on shed rafters nearby
That Nature in her ways is amazing none ought to deny
Familiar voices of the Spring of the year
The songs of the blackbirds so pleasant to hear
With a refreshing coolness in the coastal breeze
The magpies are warbling on the sunlit trees
The contented cattle chewing their cuds do lay
On what must be close to a perfect Spring day.
