Closer Together Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Closer Together

Skies filled with the red, white and blue, God
blessing all of it's citizens here in the United
States Of America.

Knowledge of the evil that has been trying to
hide beneath the covers of obama in our White House.

American's ingenuity is far beyond the comprehension
of the United States government, all are ready, having
the elements needed to survive isis.

Even if our grid is taken down, we don't mind, because
most Americans grew up camping, roughing it and living
off the land.

We are not afraid of doing so, it is a relaxing state
of living, always carrying our weapons, concealing
them from the enemy within.

Not afraid to point and shoot, no mercy will be shown,
united in a common cause, we will prevail and our
republic will survive, being stronger than before.

Why? Because isis has brought us all closer together
and we can not be divided at all, contrary to obama's
opinion of us.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Daniel Brick 15 August 2015

I may be shirking my duty but I do not honestly think I can comment on a political poem like this because I have NOT been reading news, watching news, talking news. etc. Six years I was inspired by Obama's intelligence, eloquence, etc. I don't know why his presidency has failed my expectations and others' obviously. I don't know why people distrust his moral character. I DON'T KNOW and in those three words is my confession of unreadiness: I won't add to the welter of words mine based as they would be in ignorance. // My spiritual view, which may be unrealistic, is that we must forge a global society for our future survival. And the emphasis on nation-states including ours is counterproductive for the planet. WHO SPEAKS FOR EARTH? was Carl Sagan's mantra - mine too. // I'm not disparaging your poem, dear RoseAnn, it has the integrity and expressiveness of your work on many topics. I am putting a muzzle on my voice because I've already put blinders on my eyes. I just read an article by Jane Goodall on the fragility of EARTH. I trust her, not politicians, I trust her chimpanzes (!) to do the right thing, not the average politico. I'm rambling. Don't take this too seriously. It's a phase I'm going through in early old age. I wasn't a KNOW-NOTHING during my 34 years of teaching, but I was younger, more hopeful.
