Cockroach Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Cockroach

Cockroach

I peeled a grapefruit, reddish inside
As I do orange all the time
Cut the head and tail and slice, skin
And peel.

I looked in the silver sink, stood still
Saw a cockroach; small; ant-size.

So scared at first, stops next to spoon
A silver tea spoon, licks, sucks, what?

I think
Think deep
Queries, what?

And then
Remain confused
Do not believe in science
Not at all fully…but do partially…

“Is the cockroach smarter than me? ”
Reminds me of a movie “Charlie”
And Cliff Robertson, I liked it
Influenced as did the others
2001, A Space Odyssey
Great Stanley Kubrick
Richard Fleischer’s
“Soylent Green”.
