Cold Times, While Wild West Tale Poem by Dr Anthony Onoja

Cold Times, While Wild West Tale

When is cold, just look up the sky
Know that I am not there
I used to be, beside you as a shield
Watching the robots together in Zombies
Creating a tomorrow you walked away from

We used to sing with one voice as doves
We used to trade beauty for ashes
See, please see, what is left of us
No pain, no hope from a better yesterday
We are Architects of what we became
Trust was built, we lay down the rules
We used to aim at the stars together

I used to tell you all my heart
I never lied ofcourse, I told them as
though I was a prophet,
now you left me in a flash
Now you threw me out
as though a broken vessel
I float away
never to return
to your arms again.
