Collaborating With Drums Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Swinging quickly into night, music blaring in time with lights
and instruments upon the stage, collaborating rapidly with an
incessant beat of drums.

Keeping step in shadows, being shown up by others who can
dance better than some, parting the sea of onlookers with
rhythms, collecting many beats in time.

Pacing themselves in synch, not ever missing a single step
tonight, trilling along measures of rhythmic instruments,
and taking center stage.
