Have we broken the color barrier
finally in my home?
Or are there still bigots lurking around
that just won't leave it alone?
What does it take for all to see
that division brings us down?
Down to the lowest levels
where the soul of our country will drown.
We've come a long way many do say.
I say we've got far to go.
A country divided in its core values
will not ever grow.
It stagnates and stays clothed in fog,
unable to find its way.
The Creator of all her children
sees us with dismay.
Bigotry is born of fear that's vile
that turns the soul inside out.
And then what you have are humans
who don't know what they're about.
There's good and bad in every race
no matter where you look.
But in my home I pray every day
that unity will be written in our book.
