Come With Me Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Come With Me

Come with me.
Ride the stream of energy
That frees us from time and weight.
Focus on the flow
And explode.

I bet you didn't know
The universe is like a butterfly in a bell jar
Flapping its wings in a vacuum
Until you release it
In a gift of love.

There you sit, self-contained,
A mystery to yourself
An enigma to the world
Sure that what you keep bottled inside
Is as fine as vintage wine.

But the rest of us just see
The dust that gathers
The mold that grows
The label that fades
As you store yourself away
For some special occasion that may never come.

Why not let yourself breathe?
Why not pour yourself out for me to see?
Why not let me taste what the years have achieved?
Who knows? I may become inebriated.

With you in my system
With you in my mind
The butterfly may take flight
To the delight of all who watch
Its meandering dance
Through the garden and into the sky
In its fleeting bid for eternal life.
