Coming Weeks Poem by Randy McClave

Coming Weeks

In the coming weeks
Many people will be asked to turn their cheeks,
Even to give up a personal belief or right
But, don't you dare…. fight.
They will expect you to be the bigger person
But, it wasn't you judging and accusing and cursin,
Nor was it you spreading rumors and telling lies
In their many statements and tries.
They wanted the power to bend your very will
As they constantly try still,
But, you must remember what they done and said
When soon you and them go through dread.
To ever forget it don't you ever dare
Show and say how you care,
Don't you dare ever forget who you are
And don't you hide that pain or cover up that scar.
Don't you dare stop fighting back for honesty and truth
We all will be known and remembered by our fruit,
And when the Lord does call
You will stand up, proud and strait and tall.
Now is not the time to be gracious or people-pleasing
Remember, their lies and mocking and hurtful teasing,
Now is the time to remind people who we are not
And for what we believe, and for what we have fought.
Don't subscribe to an ideology of submission to those who harm us
We must do more than make a fuss,
Now is the time to get reconnected to your inner power
With intuition, fulfillment, joy, right to stand up for yourself we must not cower.
We must always fight for what we believe in
If we don't a Nazi germany could soon begin,
We know where power and truth does stem
Resistance takes many forms and honoring yourself is one of them.
