Common Bronzewings Poem by Francis Duggan

Common Bronzewings

Rating: 5.0

In this shrubby place where small mountain trees abound
The bronzewing pigeon coos on the higher ground
A prolonged coo a soft humming sort of sound
Shy birds whose nests are never easily found
Brown birds with bronzish wings one hear but seldom see
They build their nest of sticks on bush or smaller tree
In quiet place from predators hidden away
Two pale white eggs the female bronzewing lay
Common bronzewings of humans are quite shy
Their wings make a whirring sound as they fly
Some-times in small flocks they do congregate
But the male is seen more often with his female mate
Their food is seed and grain found mostly on the ground
And in their territory they like to walk around.
